Which Variable should we work on?

Hey group!
Did any of you think of a certain variable that we should specifically work on? How do you think we should test it?

  1. I think it would be interesting to test a variable like rain because it would be easy to control whereas with sunlight, it might be harder cause if we are trying to expose a plant to a lot of sun and then there isn't sun for days it could be a bit of a problem. Rain we can recreate and be in total control of it. I think it would also be interesting to experiment with Sophie's idea of temperature because that is very different. That could be a little harder but do you guys have any ideas on how we could do the temperature one, if that is the one that you guys are also interested in doing?

  2. I think that rain would work really well because it's easy to monitor, like you said, Shivani. The temperature experiment could work if we had a heat lamp or a small air conditioner, etc. It'd be cool to try temperature but I think that, based on our resources, we should use rain as our variable because we know for sure that we have water available.

  3. We just need Caroline to answer and if she agrees with us we can choose precipitation!

  4. Yup i completely agree! i think that working with rain will be simple and will yield insightful results.

  5. So I think we decided that we want to do something that involves rain and the different types. We are going to do an experiment the mists a plant all the time and than downpour on a plant but with the same amount of water and we can see if the way the plants grow differs.

  6. Yes! So the same amount of water just distributed on two of the same types of plants at a different time

  7. Great ideas so far, ladies!

As we discussed, the next stem is to figure out how to make it "rain," and to vary the rain in standardized ways.

Following that, you will need to start setting up plants and the general experimental apparatus. Fun, fun!
